This week in Parliament: NA returns
May 13, 2024

With only days to go until to the elections, the National Assembly (NA) returns from its constituency period to wrap up certain matters before the 6th parliament comes to an end.

Some of the important bills to be considered by the NA includes the Basic Education Laws Amendment Bill and the Public Procurement Bill.

The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will on Thursday consider the National Water Resources Infrastructure Bill, which aims to provide for the establishment of the South African National Water Resources Infrastructure Agency as a state-owned company and major public entity. On the same day the NCOP will also consider the Electricity Regulation Amendment Bill. The Bill will provide for additional electricity, new generation capacity and electricity infrastructure, as well as for an open market platform that will allow for competitive electricity trading.
