The National Assembly goes into another recess this week and will remain in this state until the start of the final term on 5 October 2020. The NCOP on the other hand will only go into recess on 30 September, but there is limited programming scheduled for this period.  

Some Bills of interest have recently been introduced into the National Assembly, including the Cannabis for Private Purposes Bill [B 19 – 2020] (National Assembly – proposed sec 75). This Bill was introduced on 1 September 2020, and referred to the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services of the National Assembly on 4 September 2020.  The Explanatory summary of this Bill and prior notice of its introduction was previously published in Government Gazette No. 43595 of 7 August 2020.
