  • G20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Meeting

Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Dr Dion George, hosts the final G20 Environment and Climate Sustainability Working Group Technical and Ministerial Meetings from 13–17 October in Cape Town. Delegates will adopt the Ministerial Declaration, outlining consensus on six key environmental priorities under South Africa’s G20 Presidency, and mark milestones including the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement.

  • Mining Production and Sales – August 2025

Statistics South Africa will release mining production and sales data for August, offering a clearer view of performance in a key economic sector. In July, total mining production rose 4.4% year-on-year and 1.0% month-on-month, supported by broad-based gains across several minerals. Gold output, however, fell by 0.4% year-on-year in July. For August, analysts expect overall mining output to increase by around 1.8% year-on-year and 0.6% month-on-month, with gold production forecast to rebound modestly by 2.0% year-on-year.

  • Key Stats SA Economic Releases – Mid-October 2025

Statistics South Africa will release several economic indicators in mid-October. On Wednesday, retail trade sales for August 2025 will be published, providing insight into consumer spending trends. Following this, on Thursday, data on wholesale trade sales, motor trade sales, selected private sector building statistics, and civil cases for debt (all for August 2025) will be released. These publications collectively offer a snapshot of business activity, consumer demand, and credit trends in the economy.

  • Health Sector Collaboration Meeting

President Cyril Ramaphosa will convene the Health Sector Collaboration meeting at Tuynhuys, Cape Town. The session will bring together government officials, health sector leaders, and stakeholders to discuss strategies for improving healthcare delivery, strengthening public health systems, and coordinating responses to national health priorities.

Friday – 17 October 2025

  • Government of National Unity Leaders Retreat

President Cyril Ramaphosa will participate in the Government of National Unity (GNU) Leaders Retreat on 17 October 2025. The retreat provides an opportunity for senior leaders from the ruling party and coalition partners to discuss governance priorities, enhance coordination across government, and align strategies to improve service delivery and economic development initiatives.
