This week in Parliament, while the National Assembly remains in its Constituency Period until 17 April, committee work continues in the National Council of Provinces. A key meeting to note is the Select Committee on Appropriations, which will on Wednesday conduct public hearings on the Division of Revenue Bill, Appropriation Bill, and Eskom Debt Relief Amendment Bill.

On Tuesday, 15 April, the Select Committee on Finance will receive briefings from the North West Provincial Treasury on their quarterly performance and from the Auditor-General on the financial oversight of provincial treasuries and their entities. The Select Committee on Economic Development and Trade will hear from the Film and Publication Board on harmful content spread via social media and other online platforms, and will also consider the financial sustainability of the South African Post Office. The Joint Standing Committee on Intelligence will hold a closed session.

On Wednesday, 16 April, the Select Committee on Public Infrastructure will consider the final mandate and committee report on the Marine Oil Pollution (Preparedness, Response and Cooperation) Bill. The Select Committee on Security and Justice will receive a briefing from the Magistrates Commission on its mandate, progress with disciplinary proceedings, and systemic challenges carried over from the sixth Parliament. The Select Committee on Social Services will meet with the Department of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities to consider its strategic and annual performance plans and budget vote.
