Monday – 18 August 2025

  • Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Blade Nzimande, is delivering the keynote address at the 3rd International Conference on Earth and Environmental Sciences in Durban.
  • The Ad Hoc Committee to Investigate Allegations made by Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi is meeting to consider and adopt its final draft Terms of Reference. This committee is focused on a high-profile case within the South African Police Service.
  • The National Treasury, in partnership with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority, is hosting the virtual launch of Money Smart Week South Africa 2025 at 11:00. This is a significant national financial education campaign.

Tuesday- 19 August 2025

  • Stats SA is set to publish the Land Transport Survey, June 2025 report at 11:00, providing key economic data on the transport sector.
  • The Portfolio Committee on Health will receive submissions on the tobacco hearings from Clive Bates, Cart Agency, the South African Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, and the Public Health Association of South Africa.
  • The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the National Prosecuting Authority’s Senior Management Conference.

Wednesday- 20 August 2025

  • Stats SA will publish the Consumer Price Index (inflation rate) for July both in terms of MoM and YoY. Economists anticipate a significant increase.
  • The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) begins in Yokohama, Japan, and runs until 22 August. South Africa’s high-level delegation to the summit will be led by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
  • The IEC is holding municipal ward by-elections on Wednesday, 20 August 2025. These elections will take place in the King Sabata Dalindyebo Municipality in the Eastern Cape, and the Matzikama and Knysna municipalities in the Western Cape.

Thursday – 21 August 2025

  • Stats SA will publish three reports today: the Export and import unit value indices, June 2025, Selected building statistics of the private sector, and Statistics of civil cases for debt.
  • The Portfolio Committee on Health will receive submissions on the tobacco hearings from the National Council Against Smoking, Youth Interactive, the Pheli Youth Conference Forum, Amandla Mobi, and the South African Tobacco – Free Youth Forum.
  • The Department of Science, Technology and Innovation is hosting the 2025 South African Women in Science Awards (SAWiSA) in Bloemfontein.

Friday – 22 August 2025

  • The final day of the Y20 Summit, which is part of South Africa’s G20 Presidency, is being held in the City of Ekurhuleni. The Y20 Summit will be attended by 145 delegates from G20 member countries.
  • The final day of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development , held in Yokohama, Japan.
  • The National Treasury will host a fiscal policy engagement at the Development Bank of Southern Africa.
