- Mining Production Data to Test Sector Momentum
Statistics South Africa will publish November mining production figures, providing an early read on conditions in the resource sector. Output is expected to show continued but moderating growth, with overall mining production forecast to rise by about 3.8% year on year, down from 5.8% in October. Despite the slowdown, the data should still point to positive momentum, supported by firmer commodity prices and a favourable base effect from last year, offering insight into the sustainability of the recent recovery.

- December Consumer Inflation Data Due
Statistics South Africa will release December consumer inflation figures, with headline CPI expected to edge slightly higher to around 3.6% year on year from 3.5% in November. The modest increase is likely to be driven mainly by a rise in petrol prices during the month, which narrows the year-on-year decline in fuel costs that previously helped contain inflation. The data will provide an important read on price pressures heading into the new year.
