This week in Parliament, committees are set to focus on fiscal legislation, oversight of state entities, and key sector-specific strategic planning. On Monday, the Standing Committee on Appropriations will consider and adopt draft reports on the 2025 Division of Revenue Bill and the Public Sector Pension and Related Payments Bill. On Tuesday, a joint briefing by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment (DFFE) and the Department of Agriculture (DOA) will address progress on the High-Level Panel report on Captive Animals. The Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development will receive briefings from the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) and Legal Aid South Africa on their annual performance plans and budgets. The Select Committee on Cooperative Governance and Public Administration will be briefed on the Department of Water and Sanitation’s strategic and annual performance plans. Furthermore, the Select Committee on Appropriations will consult with SALGA on the 2025 Division of Revenue Bill and consider the report on the Eskom Debt Relief Amendment Bill. The Portfolio Committee on Trade, Industry and Competition will engage with the DTIC and the National Lottery Commission (NLC) regarding the National Lottery Operator Licence award process. The Portfolio Committee on Transport will consider and adopt reports on its strategic plan, budget, and oversight visits, while the Portfolio Committee on Minerals and Petroleum Resources will consider and adopt its draft budget report and an oversight report on Alexkor. The Standing Committee on Finance will consider and adopt its report on Budget Vote 8: National Treasury.

On Wednesday, the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development will continue with briefings from the Public Protector South Africa and the Information Regulator on their annual performance plans and budgets. The Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans will receive briefings from Armscor and Denel on their strategic plans, corporate plans, and budgets for 2025/26. The Select Committee on Appropriations will hold public hearings on the 2025 Division of Revenue Bill, Appropriation Bill, and Public Sector Pension and Related Payments Bill. The Portfolio Committee on Health will conduct further public hearings on the Tobacco Products and Electronic Delivery Systems Control Bill and consider its budget vote report. The Standing Committee on Appropriations will be briefed by the Department of Trade and Industry on the 2025 Appropriation Bill, and the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies will present its revised strategic plan, annual performance plan, and budget.

As the week concludes on Thursday, the Select Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Mineral Resources will receive briefings from the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Electricity and Energy on their APPs and Budget Votes. On Friday, the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies will receive briefings from Sentech and Broadband Infraco (BBI) on their quarterly reports and adopt its Budget Vote Report. Finally, the Joint Standing Committee on Defence will be briefed by the SANDF on its land border safeguarding operations, including technology use and acquisition of new mobility packs.
