This week in Parliament, the National Assembly is focused on committee work and oversight, with significant attention on the 2025 Division of Revenue Bill and broader fiscal planning.

On Tuesday, the Standing and Select Committees on Finance will hold public hearings on the Fiscal Framework and Revenue Proposals. The Trade and Industry Committee will engage with ArcelorMittal South Africa and review oversight reports on the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition’s performance. Meanwhile, the Tourism Committee will meet with key aviation and tourism stakeholders, including ACSA, AASA, and the Tourism Grading Council, to assess sector challenges and growth opportunities. The Appropriations Committee will receive a briefing from the Financial and Fiscal Commission on the 2025 Division of Revenue Bill.

On Wednesday, the Select Committee on Appropriations will hear from National Treasury on the 2025 Division of Revenue Bill, 2025 Appropriation Bill, and 2025 Eskom Bill. The Communications and Digital Technologies Committee will assess progress on the Fourth Industrial Revolution report and the Digital Economy Masterplan. The Standing Committee on Appropriations will also receive input from the Parliamentary Budget Office on the Division of Revenue Bill.

Friday sees the Joint Standing Committee on Financial Management of Parliament review progress on rebuilding fire-damaged parliamentary buildings, alongside performance reports for 2023/24. The Finance Committees will hear responses from National Treasury and SARS on public submissions regarding the Fiscal Framework and Revenue Proposals. The Appropriations Committee will close the week with input from stakeholders, including the South African Local Government Association and the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, on the 2025 Division of Revenue Bill.
