This Week in Parliament

This week in Parliament, key committee meetings will focus on urgent national issues. On Tuesday, the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture will receive a briefing on the food safety implications of pesticide contamination in spaza shop products, which resulted in several deaths across two provinces.

On the same day, the Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry will engage with the Minister on governance failures at the SABS and plans to address these concerns. On Wednesday, the Committee will also hear from the DTIC and NCC on their response to a national disaster involving classified foodborne illnesses.

Additional activities include oversight visits by the Higher Education Committee, NCOP training sessions, and a media briefing by Economic Cluster oversight chairs.
