Gauteng will hold a by-election in Ward 10 of the City of Tshwane, located in Mamelodi, on 1 October 2025. The by-election provides residents with the opportunity to elect a new ward councillor, ensuring continued local representation and governance. In the 2021 municipal elections, the ward results were: ANC 51.7%, EFF 27.5%, ActionSA 5.6%, and DA 3.7%.

- Public Comment on BELA Regulations
The Minister of Basic Education, Ms Siviwe Gwarube, has gazetted the first two sets of regulations under the Basic Education Laws Amendment (BELA) Act, 2024, for public comment. These regulations relate to school capacity and admissions and aim to ensure that the amendments introduced by the BELA Act, are implemented in a way that upholds learners’ rights, strengthens school functionality, and maintains the balance of governance between School Governing Bodies and government. Members of the public have until 5 October 2025 to submit written comments.
