This week in Parliament, committees are set to focus heavily on budget votes and fiscal legislation, alongside discussions spanning land reform, public infrastructure, and various departmental strategic plans. On Tuesday, the Select Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Mineral Resources will receive a briefing on the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform’s Annual Performance Plan (APP) and Budget Vote. The Select Committee on Public Infrastructure & Minister in the Presidency will discuss the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure’s Strategic Plan, APP, and Budget, and consider final mandates on the Marine Oil Bill. The Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs will engage with the Government Printing Works (GPW) on its revised strategic plan and the Department of Home Affairs’ ICT projects. Furthermore, the Portfolio Committee on Environment, Forestry and Fisheries will receive quarterly reports from the South African Weather Service and South African National Parks, and consider its Budget Vote Report. Fiscal matters will be central as the Standing Committee on Appropriations is briefed by the Department of Social Development on the 2025 Appropriation Bill, and the Standing Committee on Finance holds public hearings on the Revenue Laws Amendment Bill.

On Wednesday, the Select Committee on Security and Justice will receive a strategic plan briefing from the Ministry and the Independent Police Investigative Directorate. The Select Committee on Economic Development and Trade will be briefed by the Department of Tourism on the Tourism Equity Fund. The Select Committee on Social Services will discuss the Department of Social Development’s Strategic Plan, APP, and Budget Vote. Fiscal discussions continue with public hearings by the Standing Committee on Appropriations on the 2025 Eskom Debt Amendment Bill and 2025 Appropriation Bill, while the Standing Committee on Finance will hold public hearings on the South African Reserve Bank Amendment Bill. The Portfolio Committee on Land Reform and Rural Development will consider its Budget Vote Report and outstanding committee minutes, and receive a briefing on CPAs complaints in North-West Province.

Concluding the week on Friday, a joint meeting of the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies and the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education will provide an update on schools’ connectivity. Finally, the Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans will consider its 2025 Budget Report.
