GovTech 2025 will open in Durban, with Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, delivering the keynote address.

On Tuesday, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) will release the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data for the second quarter of 2025 at a media briefing in Tshwane.
The Q1 2025 GDP showed a modest 0.1% quarter-on-quarter growth, with agriculture rising 15.8%, while mining and manufacturing contracted by 4.1% and 2.0%, respectively.

On Wednesday, the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) will conduct municipal ward by-elections in the Eastern Cape, Free State, Limpopo, and Gauteng. The key wards include Ward 01 (Kou-Kamma, Eastern Cape), Ward 07 (Nala, Free State), Ward 05 (Bela-Bela, Limpopo), and Ward 130 (City of Johannesburg, Gauteng). These by-elections provide residents the opportunity to elect ward councillors to represent their communities.
Thursday – 11 September 2025
On Thursday, two key G20 events will take place in South Africa. The Tourism Working Group Ministerial will be held at Skukuza, Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga, bringing together government officials and stakeholders to discuss sustainable tourism and policy coordination.

On Friday, President Cyril Ramaphosa will lead a Cabinet visit to Rustenburg in the North West Province as part of government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen provincial support and improve coordination for economic growth and service delivery. The programme will include a joint engagement between the National and North West Provincial Cabinets at the Rustenburg Civic Centre under the theme “A Nation that Works for All.”
