The annual Investing in Africa Mining Indaba gets under way in Cape Town, bringing together government officials, ministers, mining companies and investors to engage on mining policy, regulation and investment opportunities. - Communications Entities to Brief Parliament on Performance
Parliament’s portfolio committee on communications and digital technologies will be briefed by the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa, Sentech, Broadband Infraco, the Universal Service and Access Agency of South Africa and the Universal Service and Access Fund on their first- and second-quarter performance and expenditure for the 2025/26 financial year.

- By-Elections in KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape
Two municipal by-elections will be contested, with voters heading to the polls in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. The IFP will be defending Ward 13 in Umzumbe against MK, the ANC and the NFP, while the DA will be defending Ward 16 in George against the PA, with the ANC and Truth also contesting.

- State of the Nation Address
President Cyril Ramaphosa will address a joint sitting of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces at 19h00 SAST, formally marking the start of the parliamentary year. The State of the Nation Address will outline government’s policy and legislative priorities for the year ahead, with local government expected to feature prominently given the approach of municipal elections likely to take place in November.

- Parliament Briefed on Nieuwmeester Dome Readiness
Parliament’s joint standing committee on financial management will be briefed on the readiness of the Nieuwmeester Dome for handover. The refurbished R31.7m temporary, air-conditioned structure near Parliament in Cape Town is intended to serve as a secure venue for National Assembly sittings while the main parliamentary buildings are being reconstructed.
