This week in Parliament: Committee activities
Oct 21, 2024

Parliamentary Programme:
This week in parliament, discussions will focus on education readiness for national exams, budgetary reviews, and legislative matters. The portfolio committees will continue their work on various sectors, including police oversight and trade legislation.

Ms. G. Mchunu (MK) asks the Minister of Tourism:

In light of the failure of the National Tourism Information and Monitoring System (NTIMS) Data Collection Programme, which cost the department over R60 million, was the accounting officer held accountable for this failure? If not, why? If yes, what were the details of the accountability actions taken?

Was an investigation conducted to determine the reasons behind the failure of the NTIMS Data Collection Programme and the resultant wastage of public funds? If not, why? If yes, what were the key findings?

Mr. M. E. Nhanha (DA) asks the Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development:

Has the Minister found that attempts to amend Section 25 of the 1996 Constitution were unnecessary, given that the current form of this section already allows the State to expropriate land without compensation? If not, what is the Minister’s position on this issue? If so, what details can be provided to support this conclusion?
