This week in Parliament: Committee Meetings
Sep 26, 2023

Parliament has entered a constituency period from 26 September – 9 October 2023. The fourth and final term of the year will commence on 10 October and is programmed to end on 01 December 2023.

On committee level, however, a few meetings are scheduled for this week.

A joint meeting focussing on the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) will be held. AGOA gives preferential trade status to many South African exports to the United States. There has been political pressure within the US for SA to be excluded from the act because of its stance on the war in Ukraine.

In the NCOP the Select Committee on Public Enterprises and Communication will be briefed on the expected growth of communication infrastructure and investments following the successful auction allocating high-demand radio frequency spectrum.
