This Week in Parliament: Committee Week
Nov 18, 2024

This week, Parliament is focused entirely on committee work, with no plenaries scheduled. Committees will deliberate on legislative priorities, policy updates, and departmental oversight, addressing key national issues in detail.

Two meetings on agricultural issues are worth noting. On Tuesday the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture will meet to be briefed by the Department of Agriculture on the National Policy on Comprehensive Producer Development Support as well as the Farmer Production Support Units (FPSUs). On Wednesday, the Portfolio Committee on Land Reform and Rural Development will be briefed on a number of issues regarding land rights and claimant processes.

Another meeting worth highlighting, also on Wednesday, is the briefing of the Portfolio Committee on Electricity and Energy by the Ministry of Electricity and Energy on the Just Energy Transition Plan.
