This week in Parliament: Crime Questions and Energy

This week sees a full programme for the National Assembly. Ministers in the Peace and Security Cluster will be asked questions on Tuesday. The Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu, will be asked about plans to counter gang violence, to use new technologies to keep communities safer, to act against cybercrime, as well as the potential of further cooperation between the private and public sectors in combating crime.

Thursday will see a statement by the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, on delays in the completion of certain infrastructure projects.

Next week, the National Assembly enters a one-week “committee week”, with no plenaries being scheduled. Plenaries resume on Tuesday, 26 November.

Regarding committee activities this week, a significant meeting of the Portfolio Committee on Electricity and Energy will take place on Wednesday in which updates will be given on the Renewable Energy Integrated Power Producers Procurement programme and the Risk Mitigation Independent Power Producers Procurement programme.
