This week in Parliament: Foreign Policy & Finance
Nov 6, 2023

It is another busy week in parliament.

On Tuesday the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, will deliver a statement in the National Assembly (NA) on the Israel-Hamas conflict which is expected to receive significant media attention.

Minister Pandor will also, as part of the Ministers in the Peace & Security Cluster, face questions the following day. The EFF will ask her whether she has tabled a proposal for the expulsion of the Israeli Ambassador, and if not, what her position is in this regard.

The EFF has also requested that the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Ronald Lamola, supply the NA full details of the current backlog in cases at the National Prosecuting Authority.

The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Thandi Modise, will be asked about the details concerning the deployment of the South African National Defence Force to ensure safety and security at Eskom power plants.

On Thursday the Deputy President, Paul Mashatile, will answer questions on a range of topics, including the implementation of the District Development Model and the improvement of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.

On Friday, in a joint meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance and Select Committee on Finance, Treasury and the South African Revenue Service will give responses to the submissions they have received on the Revised Fiscal Framework and Revenue Proposals.
