This week sees plenty of activity in the National Assembly, with the consideration of a number of budgetary review and recommendation reports on the agenda. On Wednesday the Ministers in the Governance Cluster will answer questions in the NA. The Cluster includes Ministers of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs; Government Communications and Information Services and Media Development and Diversity Agency; Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities; Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, as well as Public Service and Administration.
On Friday one of the subjects for discussion in the NA will be “Strengthening the agriculture and poultry sectors as a catalyst for economic development in South Africa and Africa”. This comes after a crisis hit the poultry sector recently due to an outbreak of avian flu.
On Friday the NA will discuss the water provision crisis in South Africa.
On committee level water is also a concern this week, with the National Water Resources Infrastructure Agency SOC Limited Bill receiving attention on Tuesday and Friday. The Bill provides for the incorporation and establishment of a state-owned company to administer, fund, finance, provide, operate, maintain and provide advisory services in respect of national water resources infrastructure.
