It is busy week in parliament with an especially full agenda for the National Assembly.
On Monday the assembly will decide the fate of the Public Protector, Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, after the committee that investigated her fitness to hold office recommended her removal.
On Tuesday the governance cluster will be answering questions. The cluster consists of the Minister in The Presidency for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation; the Minister in The Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities; the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies; and Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs; and the Minister of Public Service and Administration. The Minister of Public Service and Administration will be asked about the public wage increases announced earlier this year and about what cost-cutting measures are considered to implement the increases.
On committee level, public hearings on the Public Procurement Bill will take place on Tuesday. The bill prescribes a framework within which preferential contracting for goods and services by organs of state must be implemented.
The Portfolio Committee on Police will on Wednesday be updated by the SAPS on progress made on investigations relating to the State Capture Commission.
